Start up Problems in XP Home

When starting up all seems fine until after entering my password to logon.
After that I get an error message that says "Explorer.exe entry point not
found. The procedure entry point shcreatethreadref cannot be located in dll
shlwapi.dll". The only option is to click OK which brings me to a blank
startup screen. My desktop wallpaper is there but no desktop icons. I use a
cable modem for Internet and leave my computer on all the time. It is set to
hibernate and the last time I used my computer everything was fine. Can
anyone out there help?
