virtual memory settings

I just upgraded my RAM to 1024 and am not sure what my optimal virtual
memory settings
should be for the best possible performance.
I am using my computer for mostly pro audio (Sonar) and gaming.
Thank You all.

I haven't been running any "Virtual Memory" in over a year, on 3 PC's.
XP Pro doesn't really need any if you have physical 1Gb or more. Why have the
OS writing to the Hard Drive to slow it down?

Because some programs insist on having some amount. Because
he has two physical drives the machine can read from the
primary and write to the secondary. It won't be used often,
but it costs little to have it.

hey Jim,
I'm trying to understand what you mean here..
Should I delete my existing page file on C;, then make a new one on my 250
( F: Drive)
HD?
How big should I make it?
Would this really help performance, or is this kind splitting hairs?
Don't forget, I am playing games and doing some pretty intense audio.
I appreciate your help.

The system will slow down if both drives are on the same IDE cable. IDE can
only process one command at a time. In order to process two command, IDE
will have to "stop" one command inorder to process the second command. This
is one reason that true servers use SCSI, since the SCSI can do multiple
command at once.
