Vinyl AC 97 Codec Driver from Windows Update

I have a PC that

1. didn't have System Restore enabled

and

2. the user installed a Vinyl AC 97 Codec Driver from Windows Update

Now, the sound doesn't work at all despite having reinstalled the old
drivers (C-Media).

Does anyone know how to remove that Update? I don't mind digging
through the registry.

Thanks,
Matt

You have to download Realtek AC'97 from HP Web Site. It overwrites th
Vinyl AC'97 update & your sound should come back to normal. I had
sound problem with the Vinyl Update with my Digital Media Editio
(Analog Rocerder). The spound was scratchy & when I downloaded Realte
everything came back to normal
