Viewing pictures as a slide show

I just recently uninstalled Microsoft Office 97
Professional edition and installed Microsoft Office 2000
Professional Academic Version. My operating system is
Windows XP. Before installing Office 2000 I was able to go
to "My Pictures" and click on a folder and right click and
view pictures as a slide show, or something like that.
Now, after installing Office 2000 I am able to go to "My
Pictures" , but I cannot find the view pictures as a slide
show option. Help suggests I click on "Picture Tasks" ,
but that option does not show up either. I like to view my
pictures as a slide show and use this feature often and
I'm very unhappy that I have this "newer software" and
can't use it like I want to. Please help. Thanks.

Click on Start, click on Run and type the following in the opening textbox:
REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL
and press the Enter key.
Note that there is a space between ...32 and SHI...
This should bring this function back. Look under Picture Task and View as
slide show should now be there.

I have traveled down the same road but to no avail. After doing the run
thing, I received the following message, "DLL Register Server in SHIMGVW.DLL
succeeded" Yet the menu in the exploere still does not reflect "Picture
Tasjk" under "View" on thr menu. Pleaser Help!

Picture Tasks is not on the view menu...it
should show in the left pane of the window.

What do you see in the left pane of the window
when you open a folder that contains image files?
