Help... I just got a new laptop (compaq) and want to use powerpoint. I
installed the 2003 Office 60 day trial. I put in a disk with an existing
Power Point presentation with embedded videos (mpeg). They won't play in
powerpoint. They will play if I run them through the Windows media player and
Quicktime. I even tried to save to hard drive and re-insert the videos ...
still no luck. I get an error message: "Powerpoint found an error that it
can't correct. You should save presentation, exit, and then restart
powerpoint." I did all that, and still nothing.

Is there a default media player I need to set for powerpoint or something?
If you can help ... please be simple - I'm not too computewr savvy.

Thanks in advance.

If it was a full install of PPT I would recomend making certain all updates
are installed (but not certain how the trial version works).

The second thing is the videos may be created with a non-standard codec.
Check here for lots of info on codecs and PPT:

The other/easier solution is to use the PFCMedia add-in (free full function
trial): to insert video and have it automatically convert to a standard
codec: www.pfcmedia.com
