I just set up a new email account - the only one - on my new computer with
Windows Vista.
I was uncertain as to wether the email address I created had a fixed name
after the '@', but didn't know which name that would be, so I decided to
create my own name and called it ...@LastName.
After completing the setting up my email account, I went on to download
email (of which I found there're almost 300!).
But a box asking for my username and password kept popping up. Between my
filling the two lines out, I would connect to the server from which I should
be downloading my email, but nothing ewlse happened.
I realised it wasn't going to work and closed down the program.
Then a new window showed up, with a list of ionformation telling me what had
happened each time I attempted to contact the server with my emails. And it
said the same thing in all the cases: Username or password was incorrect!
Now why is this??
What's wrong?
I keep running into this type of thing all over the net. Some pages just
won't show, telling me I am not allowed to access that site - fx. a site
with links, which I had been directed to via a another link at the same web
site, which is a public blog and home site.
The old familiar error messages: Site cannot be found, and the likes, have
become rare.
All these åroblems are happening at the worst possible time. I just don't
HAVE time for it at present. So I have to admit I miss my old Windows XP. -
I never chose to get Vista in the first place. It was forced upon me, as it
will be forced on everybody in the future, because XP and other older
Windows versions no longer get's installed on the new computers on the
market.
I actually tried to install Windows XP, so I could work unhindered until I
had time to get to learn how to use Vista, but XP is incompatible with the
system.
Ah well, most of you probably know these things.
I'm sorry about my rant! I shall not repeat it.
Jean.
