username and password

Suddenly yesterday Windows Mail (on Vista) decided it needs my username and
password each time I open it, whether I've cleared & retyped & clicked
"Remember" or not. Checked and even reset (just in case) Tools - Accounts -
Mail - Properties - Servers with the correct info, and clicked Remember there
(again). I get my comcast email, I close Windows Mail, and when I reopen -
it requires username and password again. Found a message about disabling
Avast mail checking, did that - no change. No change with Comcast, so it
must be a Windows Mail change. Have tried a number of things over the past
24 hours, no change - still not actually "remembering" the info. Why, and
more important, how do I fix it?

The account may have become corrupt?

Note all the accounts settings on each tab.

Remove the account, close & re-open WM and then rebuild it again to remove
any corruption that has been caused to it.

Sometimes the account settings get messed up, and you have to remove
and re-add it.

Go to Tools - Accounts
remove the account (write down the settings first).
close Windows Mail.
Re-open WM, and add the account info again.
