user32.dll - error and then Blues Screen c0000135 user32.dll

hi,

I am running a Dell GX-240 full of memory - Windows XP Pro and Office 2007.

The coputer and operating system are from a friend and the Office is from my
former non-profit employer - whom I did a

lot of work for at home and still some on the side.

I am currently unemployed.

I have two XP Pro disks. One from the friend who installed the system - (Yes
it has the fancy hologram label and is 100%

LEGAL) and one from my daughters Dell. - (Green Label.) (It was sealed
before I tried to boot off it ....) That di dnot

work - i.e. bring me to anything tha tlooked like a restore menu .. asked
for the KEY -- and I do not have it from the

original install.)

I have been told that I can "restore" my system with a valid disk.

I was working one morning early on a web page design and my AVG said that I
had a "threat" and did i want to quarantine

it? I clicked yes.

I finished the page and tried to open my FTP program... it had a user32.dll
error.

So I tried another FTP program and that too would not open.

I though I would then go to a restore point from the previous day.. The
REstore would not open ..same error user32.dll.

I rebooted the system once to the desk top and nothing woudl open... same
user32.dll error.

I rebooted again tryin to get in to "Safwe Mode" and ended up with the "Blue
Screen" error ... STOP: C0000135

....user32.ldd ....." Sorry I did not write ia all down.

My problems are many::

1. I am not a geek.

2. I am unemployed and short on funds .

3. My latest back up to my external is a couple of days older than some of
the data on my hard drive - My Maxtor auto

back up has never worked and they give me the run aroound on the problem
and its fix.

4. I really need the Office 2007 to stay intact. I was working for a
non-profit and they purchased a 5 unit package from TechSoup and those
liscenses have been used at the office and for our systems at home... we work
a lot off the clock per say.

5. I really need my system for my job search.

THANK YOU FOR LISTENING..

AND HELPING..

SINCERELY,

CHRIS PLUMLEY

An exact copy of the Stop Error report is needed.

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click on
the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced,
Start-Up and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before
Automatically Restart.

Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure until you have
resolved the problem. Check for variants of the Stop Error message.

An alternative is to keep pressing the F8 key during Start-Up and select
option - Disable automatic restart on system failure.

If you are using a wireless keyboard and the F8 key does not work
substitute a wired keyboard and mouse for this exercise onl

What is the position regarding data on the disk? Did you have a backup
or is it necessary to recover data?

Hi Gerry and Thank you.

Right now my machine is sitting on the F* "Black and White" Safe Mode screen.

I do have a PS2 mouse and Keyboard installed so that this menu is usable.

I do not know which choice to make. Will Last Known Good Configuration work?

I do have a copy of a user32.dll from another Win XP Pro system on a CD.

I did not know that there was a WIn XP Pro CD in the disk drive when i
booted the computer... after its trip to my geek friend... He thought that
if I had this disk it would just do a "restore" on boot ... but instead it
ran for about 10 Mins. to the KEY Entry Screen.

I would like to try something from here ..... but I do not want to loose my
programs and data ..... my last good back up is three days before the problem.

Thank you...

Sincerely,

CP

No -- I tried using the last know good configuration and it freezes up with
a BLACK screen and white mouse error.

Looks like when I let the XP Pro disk begin start up.. that it began the
SETUP process...

Now this is what happens...

1. start system

2. The RAID Card error check program runs ... I have 3 hard drives and one
is on a RAID Card.

3. the official Windows XP Pro Logo comes on with the window with the Blue
-- "I'm doing something" horizontal scrolling blue boxes...

4. the a lighter blue official "Windows XP logo in the upper right and
.....Set Restarting ..... words...

5. Then BLACK Screen .. white mouse arrow and it is FROZEN..

PLEASE NOTE: i AM RUNNING A DELL GX240 with BIOS A03 ... I remember a long
time ago that the man who gave me this box said that that is on BEAR of a
BIOS to work with ...

I'm thinking of trying F12 ... and booting from the DVD to see if i can get
the system to only read the DVD or looking in F3 -- SETUP to see if there is
something there to help..

FYI --I no longer get the STOP C0000135 user32.dll error ..

THANK YOU.
