Useage reports

I am trying to understand what these reports are telling me. What is the
definition of a 'hit' and a 'visit' in the Frontpage '03 useage reports and
how do these relate to the 'total hits' figure ?

They actually don't relate.

If I open your web site in a browser I have started 1 visit. If I open 10
pages during the visit I have created 10 hits.

A visit is each time a new IP address (browser) access the site during a specific period of time

A hit is a request for each page and each image (or other external element) on a page.

I have one more question:

Which field means the real number of visits to the site?

Thanks

Number of visitors or visits
- page hits are meaningless as you get a hit for every file (css, images, etc) in the page
