Upgrading the All-In-Wonder

Has anybody been successful in upgrading their All-In-Wonder Radeon card
(older version card) with newer drivers, like the Cat 3.9 versions? I
have tried to replace my original drivers by uninstalling them with the
Cat Uninstall program (works better than Add/Delete Programs), and then
running the setup program for the Cat 3.9. It keeps failing in this
install with a message 'setup unable to complete' and a suggestion to
first load the system with a standard vga. I already have the standard
VGA installed, so I don't know why it is complaining.

Did you download the drivers? Was it the broadband dl? Could be corrupt, but I would say there are bits and pieces left behind of
old hardware/drivers.

I'm running 3.9 on a 9800Pro AIW, WinXP. I had just installed the OS from
scratch and used the latest driver from ATI website. Didn't want to deal
with leftovers and it was about time for a fresh start anyway. No problems
here.

Thanks for the replies.
I bit the bullet and paid for ATI support on this one. The fix for this
one was to do a manual install of ATI's latest drivers. That was one
option I never tried. I was very close to solving it myself, but could
not get around this problem of having a standard VGA driver installed
before running the 3.9 install. Doing a manual install of 3.9 seemed
to work around this issue, since I could not find a suitable VAG driver
anywheres on my original ATI disk, or on the net.
What upsets me most is the poor documentation from ATI on the 'capture'
of
video. My capture button was inactive, and I couldn't find out any
remedies in either the ATI docs or on their web site. Since I never
used
capture before, I thought it might be an out of date driver, so I
uninstalled my original driver and downloaded the latest from ATI.
Trouble was that I got hung up in this installation because of the VGA
driver missing, but I couldn't even go back easily to my original
driver,
since I had upgraded to DirectX 9.0b. It took other things to upgrade
the
card like 'Windows Media Encoder' and 'ATI Multi-Media Center' to get
this
to work. I was stuck, so I had to pay ATI to help me fix it. However,
in
talking to the ATI tech, I found out the real reason for the capture not
working. It was because the TV-on-Demand was enabled (I never did it,
so
it must have been a default) that did not permit 'capture' to be
enabled.
I could have simply turned off the TV-on-Demand, and the problem would
have been fixed. Well, at least I have the latest drivers which should
improve performance and support from ATI. Forget about sending email
inquires to ATI, as they are running well over a week, on replies. The
FAQ and other help features of their web site are certainly not
comprehenseive, and their manuals leave out some very important
information.
