upgrading hard drive

I purchased a new, higher capacity hard drive to serve my growing needs. Now
the goal is to migrate all data and settings from the old drive to the new
one. I have done this successfully in the past using a third party software
application called Drive Copy but now I have Win XP pro and that application
is not compatible. Is there any easy way to migrate my data from my old
drive to the new one?

Your drive should have come with a CD that has all the software you need.

If you want to buy special disk cloning software try Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image. I use Ghost myself and like it. Others prefer True Image. Up to you.

Are there any other methods of doing this via Windows or is continued
reliance on third party vendors needed?
Thanks

Via Windows - no. Third parties - yes. Why wouldn't you want to use the instructions and software that came with your hard disk? It's part of what you pay for. The disk manufacturer is also there to help you.

Have you considered installing the new hard drive as a slave?
