I've just bought XP Pro upgrade for XP Home. It gets to copying system files
then comes up with an error that it cant read or write to drive C, suggests I
disable virus program which I do along with all the other security features
but it still wont install and gives the same error message. Computer is a
laptop only 6 months old with heaps of disc space and memory. Any ideas ???

Well thier is no "upgrade to pro from home" the upgrade is for older windows
OS.To install pro from home, install xp pro cd,exit the info page, restart
computer,
boot to xp cd,select install xp,new copy.

And guess who is right? <drum roll>
!!!YOU are the lucky winner. !!!
Andrew E has been corrected at least a hundred times that you can indeed
upgrade XP Home to XP Pro using the XP Pro Upgrade or Full XP Pro version.
You cannot do an upgrade from any OEM XP Version.
