upgrade from XP Home to XP Pro

Changing laptops for kid returning to college - new laptop comes with XP Home
SP2 preloaded- decommissioned laptop has XP Pro. Need Pro. How can I
'upgrade" to Pro using the old XP Pro disk (retail version - pre SP2).
Getting a notification that I am trying to load an older version of XP.
Don't want to do a 'clean' load because I will loose a lot of the drivers and
programs that came with the new laptop.

Hi Phil,

Create a slipstreamed install CD (XP with SP2) by following the instructions
here:

(or do a web search for slipstreaming instructions, as plenty of them
abound!)
