updating to version 6

My system is showing me I have version 5.1(Build
2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519: Service Pack 2). I downloaded IE6 but a window
opened and said I was already running a newer version. What gives? I am not
very 'puter literate, so please be kind.

No, you do not have version 5.1
XP comes with a base of IE6.
Your information shows you already have IE6 SP2.

5.1(Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519: Service Pack 2) is your Windows
version. For your IE version go to Help | About in IE. You will find that
you have IE6 SP2 (6 0.2900.2180)
