Unwanted photos in the desktop background list.

Hello,
I have read all these posts about removing the unwanted photos from the
desktop background list in the Display option and none of the replies still
have not worked for me. So, to put this in question format. How do I remove
the pictures in "My Pictures" folder from the "Desktop" tab in the "Display".
I do not want to have to make a different folder for my pictures. I will do
that if there are no other options. So, if there are any other options please
let me know.
Thanks,
Sassa

I used Kellys tip # 144 http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
and it worked for me.
Note I did have to do a full cold boot before the list cleared.

Doesn't the file name disappear from the list whenever the picture
ceases to be the target background image?

i had this issue too, or at least very similar. All of the pictures in "my
pictures" were available as backgrounds. Turns out that the desktop.ini file
was mssing from the my pictures folder. I copied the one from the all
users.window my pictures fodler and al lof my troubles went away.

Did your My Pictures folder also have the incorrect icon because of the
missing desktop.ini file?

Hello again,
Well, I tried what you said about the desktop.ini file, but it didn't help.
I don't think. Unless you have to restart the computer??
