UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

Ok heres whats going on, I have my computer, and its recentally been
giving me problems, starting about 2 weeks ago, when I would boot it up
it would mysteriously restart, it didnt do it often, but when windows
would start booting up, once the loading thing goes though about twice,
it restarts (Windows XP Professional). This got very annoying, so I
got it on yesterday, and cut Auto-Restart on system errors off. And
Today, I went to cut it on, and it got to the loading, and instead of
mysteriiously restarting, it gave me a blue screen with this
"UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME" blah blah "***STOP 0x000000ED
(0x834FB7A0, 0xC000009C,0x00000000,0x00000000)" and told me to restart,
so i restarted and this repeated. Eventually I got pissed, went to my
other computer and start researching, I found a few things to try,
tried cutting off the DRMA(think thats the acronym), didnt work, the
Blue screen suggested disableing cache's and shadow's, didnt help. So
i took the other HDD i had in the computer out, and conned ONLY the HDD
with my OS on it. Same thing occured, I then tried they Start up Discs,
I found on microsoft.com, and tried the Recovery Console, and was going
to do chkdsk /r, but it couldnd find the required file, researched, and
got the location, then i learned, I could get access to my C:/ drive,
at all. I need severe help, as my computer is just a paper weight
unless this is resolved.

Thanks, Bryan

Bryan;
Power off
Desktop:...Open the case and reseat the hard drive IDE ribbon cable at both
ends.
Laptop/Portables:... simply remove and reinsert the hard drive.
If that fails:

Otherwise go to the website of the hard drive manufacturer and download
their hard drive diagnostics.

Do you have a hard drive overlay such as Max Blast?
Windows XP sometimes has issues with overlay software.
You may need to perform a Clean Installation without their overlay software
which is not needed anyway.
