Unlocking a computer in Windows XP

Our family desktop has five users, but (until last night) no password
protection. I came home to find Windows XP Home Edition is running, with the
following message displayed:
'This computer is in use and has been locked. Only USER-6321OM30GO\ user2 or
an administrator can unlock this computer'. The cursor is blinking in the
'username' field, but both this field and the password field below it are
greyed out. This suggests that even when 'user 2' (my eldest daughter) comes
home, she may not be able to unlock the computer. Any suggestions, folks?

Hi,

Very odd. So User2 is a valid user then? Have you tried just clicking ok? If
the account is not passworded, this should be sufficient. If not, I would
soft reset (if you have that available on your system). Once logged back in,
I would check the settings under display/screensaver.

Thanks Rick. I managed to solve the problem (See 'How can I unlock a locked
computer' above)
