How to Unlock Computer

On my screen from Windows it says my computer is "Locked" and only I or the
administrator can unlock it. There is no administrator, this is my personal
laptop and I use at home. The operating system is Windows XP Professional on
IBM laptop purchased in 2003.

I cannot find my "password". Can you give me some assistance? My AOL service
is still working. If I shut the computer down will it not come up again?

Earlier today I ask Microsoft to upgrade any software, would that cause this
problem?

Have you tried leaving the password field blank?

I can do that but I want to know how to keep the message from coming up all
the time. It has never done it before. Any suggestions. Thanks.

I would like to know how to keep the "Computer is Locked" message from coming
up on my computer screen. This is the Windows XP Professional Operating
System.

Change the screensaver settings so that it does not "Return to Welcome
Screen" or "Lock" when it becomes active?

I believe that message comes up when your screen saver has been activated -
then when you press a key or move the mouse to resume the screen, it will
come up with that screen. Win9x systems used to just restore the screen if
no password was in use, or with a simple password prompt if you did use a
PW.

But on NT-based systems like WinXP, its a little more strict with the
security.

If/when you restore the screen go to the Desktop, right click and choose
Properties, then go to the screen saver options and select "None".
