"Unknown Error Has Occurred"

When attempting to delete emails in Windows Mail, this error keeps cropping
up.

I've rebooted and tried again. Some emails can be deleted, then the message
appears, and I can no longer delete the emails.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what's going on?

Thank you.

That's easy; you're using Windows Fail. Try Thunderbird. Get if from
www.mozilla.com/thunderbird. It will import all your mail from Windows
Fail and you won't have any problem deleting mail from Thunderbird.

Hi, Mark:

Tried what you suggested; still receive the error message.

Went, also, to Microsoft; they had a "fix" - approximately 1 1/2 megs.
download. Applied that, too. No luck.

I do have Norton 360 on this laptop. I'm ready to uninstall that, see if it
will correct situation. Don't want to do it until I've exhausted all other
options.

Just so you're aware, I have a new Dell XPS, 1530, 4 gigs RAM (Sees 3.5),
160 Gigs Hard Drive, 2.2 Core Duo, etc.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Ernie

That is likely causing your problem.

Replace Norton with the free AVG http://free.grisoft.com/ or Avast
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html, and Windows Firewall and Windows
Defender. Disabling Norton is not enough. You need to completely uninstall
it. If it doesn't solve the problem, get rid of Norton anyway. Norton is
known to cause many problems in Vista and they don't always appear
immediately.

Download and run the Norton Removal Tool.

Incidental warning: Thunderbird will give your cat warts.

If you don't have a cat, you should be okay.

Pretty Funny!!!)

I resolved the issue: I installed MS's newest mailer, Windows Live Mail.

Whatever was causing the problem was NOT Norton. I uninstalled Norton; same
problem. I went to MS's forums, and was surprised to find how many others
are in the same situation. It was recommended to download/install the new
mailer. I did; transferred settings/files; and, bingo, back in business.
One would like to think that MS would introduce a "fix", but they haven't.

Anyway, another problem with Vista resolved.
