Unistalling WIndows Messenger

How do I uninstall windows messenger from windows xp pro.

I have installed msn messenger to use instead, and windows messenger keeps
promting me to update it. As i now use the msn one, i want to remove the
windows one but when clicking on add/remove programs and looking under
windows components, i can't see windows messenger listed.

Can anyone advise how to unistall it.

Thanks

Actually, both co-exist very well in Windows XP. Windows Messenger is needed
for some of the backbone services you may choose to use. If you update the
Windows Messenger you will not be bothered with the message any longer.
Then, just use MSN Messenger in your daily use. When you do something that
needs Windows Messenger it will still be there, ready to work for you.

Sounds like you are confusing Windows Messenger with the Messenger
Service.

see pic.
go to add/remove in control panel,
click windows component on the left,
uncheck win messenger

If only that would actually work!

Not at all. I have both Windows Messenger and MSN Messenger (along with the
messenger service). MSN Messenger relegates Windows Messenger to the
background - where it just sits until needed (such as for using remote
assistance).
