Upgrading to Windows XP Pro is a one-way ticket....there is no
uninstall option. In order to return to Windows XP Home, you'll
have to wipe the hard drive clean (via reformatting) and perform
a "clean install" of XP Home.

The easier (and more practical) solution is to purchase a
new Windows XP Pro Product Key and activate your
current installation.

|I recently bought a copy of windows xp professional to update my desktop computer. I thought I might as well
use the same disk to update my laptop as well at the same time. However, it was not until after installation
onto my laptop that i realised activation was required, and consequently that the disc could only be used to
update one computer. As a result I know have windows xp professional registered on my desktop which I am
satisfied with, but I also have it installed on my laptop but not activated. Is there a way that I can remove
windows xp professional from my laptop to prevent it from being closed down after 30 days of not registering.
I have tried system restore, but this was reset on installation of xp professional. The original operating
system for the laptop was windows xp home edition.
