Uninstalling Program Problem

I had a problem uninstalling a virus scan program from my computer. It
kept giving me the message fatal error uninstallion aborted. I tried
uninstalling the program a dozen times with the same error. The program
itself did not come with its own uninstall utility so it relied on windows
one. How can I remove this program from my computer. I cannot locate the
original file that it was installed from, so I cant even attempt to
reinstall over top and then uninstall it. It also has a command
incorporated for scanning when you right click on a file. If I cannot
remove the file by using uninstall is there a way to remove this option from
the menu when clicking on files. Any help will be appreciated.

The virus scanner is the only program that i cannot uninstall, it tells me
fatal error occurred. I dont really want to reinstall windows 2000
completely just because one program refuses to uninstall correctly. Can I
just remove the option for "scan for viruses" from the mouse menu (the menu
that pops open when you right click on a file - the technical term for this
window eludes me). This would be enough to make me happy even if its not
solving the actual problem. When I try to reinstall it just gives me a
different error when it trys to load some devices. states could not load
defwatch.exe and something about checking to see if i have permission to
load system devices. I checked per all your recommendations and i have full
access set for everything. So the problem remains. Perhaps just the fix so
i dont see it on the mouse menu will suffice until a future time where i
want to reinstall windows 2000 and all my critical updates i have installed.
just too time consuming for me to perform right now.
