uninstalling MS antispyware

When my boss got a new computer, the installer (flesh and
blood version) installed MS Antispyware beta on the
machine without our knowlege. We already use Norton and
have no need for it, and the boss doesn't want it. I know
we could just shut it off, but why have it laying around
unused, if it can be evicted. Can we simply uninstall it
without causing problems with the system, or is it tied
into the OS or something?

Sure--just go to Control Panel, add or remove programs, Microsoft
Antispyware, and choose remove.

If your version of Norton doesn't cover spyware, you may need it, though.
The real-time protection in Microsoft Antispyware is helpful even in the
circumstance where something being installed is brand new and not covered by
definitions. You'll get a warning when it places itself in a location to
autostart, and can choose whether to leave it there.

Thanks for your concern. My version of Norton does indeed
have the antispyware on it and it is set to update
automatically. Perhaps when MS Antispyware is out of
beta, we'll take another look. Thanks again.
