Will;
You added one little word to what I said that totally changed the
meaning.
I said "Since some parts are critical, SP1 is a Critical Update"
You said "...is it logical to assume that *all* parts SP1 are
Critical"
You added the word "parts" before the word SP1 and that completely
changes the meaning.
I never even suggested "*all* parts SP1 are Critical".
However the update as a whole is Critical.
If you disagree, take it up with Microsoft who, as I pointed out in my
last post and you ignored, considers SP1 critical.
My "findings" are based on two easily verifiable facts which you seem
to ignore
1. SP1 has Critical components
2. Microsoft considers it Critical.
Those are my findings as well as the source.
Please show a source to verify your findings that SP1 (as a whole and
not just the parts) is not critical.

Hi Jupiter

If 'some' parts of SP1 are Critical is it logical to assume that *all*
parts SP1 are Critical? If you think that it is 'logical' - I would
be grateful to read your findings.

Hi Jupiter

I probably didn't word my previous posting very well. Ignoring any part of your previous posting was not intentional.

I agree that SP1 has to be classed as 'Critical - but that would depend on which version is installed. With a Broadband connection it is quicker to download the 'Network' version and then install. That version has some 'parts' that may not be needed. I still can't work out why - with a BB connection - the 'update' - which here was about 44MBs - took well over 2 hours to download & install, when the 'Network' version can be downloaded & installed in 20 minutes!!

Thank you very much, but been there, done that and it's
no help. Although the page you refer me to SAYS that XP
drivers are available for this model, if you look through
the drivers available on the page you've referred me to,
none of them is actually for the XP. If you look through
several other pages, you will find a note that the USB
drivers for the CS 800 are only available if you buy the
Epson USB cable adapter package, part #c-usb-pk3. It
specifically says that the drivers are NOT available
separate from the kit. The next problem is that of all
the stores listed on the website as sources for this
item, only one even lists it, at a price of $42.30, but
has none in stock. No one on Ebay or any other parts site
I've found has it either.
This is an Epson rip-off designed to get me to replace a
perfectly wonderful printer, so I will go yell at them,
but thank you very much for replying to my post.
