Uninstall Firefox & It Screws Up IE! Help!

Installed Firefox and liked it but it brought in more spyware than IE. I
used it for about 2 months.

I followed the uninstall icon procedure to uninstall firefox and it screwed
up my IE settings. When I click a web link in an email it looks for a
program to open it with. I figured out how to reset that but now more things
are set incorrectly.

How can i restore everything back to "before Firefox"?

Without knowing exactly what problems you are encountering all we can do is
offer basic suggestions. Try running System File Checker. With Windows
running pop your XP CD into the CD-Rom and cancel the Install screen. then
go to Start->Run and type the following and click OK
SFC /SCANNOW

System File Checker will scan your system for damaged or corrupt files and
replace them. When finished remove the CD and reboot. Unfortunately SFC
doesn't tell you what if anything that was found and fixed. But this is a
start.

More than likely YOU were to blame, not Firefox. I don't believe that
there is a documented case of a spyware program that exploits Firefox.

Umm no - it's the websites you go to!

I assume he went to the same websites with Firefox as with IE, otherwise he
wouldn't say <more spyware than IE> in his original post.

ASSume.

You don't know what he has downloaded from the net and installed. For
all we know, he has downloaded tons of "free" programs that had spyware,
and his problems have nothing to do with Firefox.

As far as I know there has yet to be a documented case of spyware being
install through Firefox without being warned about it.
