In think IE is corrupt. I am unable to connect after removing many viruses
and spyware entries. I am trying to uninstall and re-install IE but to no
avail. From microsoft.com I downloaded IE but the version I downloaded would
not work. The computer said, "Setup has detected a newer version of IE
already installed on your system. Setup cannot continue." FYI, I downloaded
IE off another computer and transferred it to the computer with the corrupted
IE.

If you lost your Internet connection after removing spy-ware
(such as NewDotNet, and Commonname) the following steps will help
restore your connection. This works for Windows 9x/NT/2000/XP.

1.) Download WinsockFix.zip. (by: Option^Explicit)
http://members.shaw.ca/installations/WinsockFix.zip

2.) UnZip WinsockFix.zip
3.) Run WinsockFix.exe.
4.) Click the Fix button.

This program will clean up your TCP/IP connection and rebuild the
database.
After the program is complete, reboot.
