Error Message:
Setup has detected a newer version of internet Explorer already Installed on
thi ssystem.

Setup Cannot Continue

This message comes up on start up. There are no tool bars installed. IE
can be run with no problems. There is no redirecting to unwanted pages. All
virus deffinitions are up to date. There is no spyware installed.

Version 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr/050301-1519

I tried to uninstall IE but was not successful. I tried patching to the
most recent service pack. I would be willing to just remove IE all together
if possible and proceed with a fresh install.

PS I did seach for this problem however I do not think my key words were
correct and thus did not find any relevent results.

Thanks in advance.

Hi mr_burns :)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Kelly's site has a fix which changes the IsInstalled flag value to 0. =
This enables reinstallation of IE. =
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/reg...s/ieinstall.reg

Just download and double-click, then proceed to reinstal IE.

Hope this helps.

I tried the suggestion posted by Jan Il. I set the IsInstalled flag value to
0 through regedit and reinstalled IE. However, the error message still
persists. Is there anythign else that can be done.

See if this will help:

Scroll down to here:
Setup has detected a newer version of Internet Explorer already installed on

Setup cannot continue.

Follow the instructions in the section below that and see if that resolves
the problem.

Hope this helps.
