Unable to reset IE as default browser

T

Trond Ruud

I wanted to check out the new Mozilla Firefox browser, after reading
some very good reviews about it, but accidently confirmed the prompt to
set it as my default browser. And now, no amount of trying to to reset
my default browser to IE 6.0 succeeds (the prompt to set it to be the
default browser again is issued every time I fire up IE 6.0) The Mozilla
Firefox 0.8 is an amazingly good browser, but I have based so much of my
internet activities on IE 6.0 functionality, that I would like to have
it as my default browser again, anyway. What can the reason be for the
IE 6.0 reset prompt/process not working? And what can I do to reset my
default browser to IE 6.0 again, manually

What can the reason be for the IE 6.0 reset prompt/process not working?
Same doubt here.

This fix helps in most cases:
http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/reg/IE_Default_Browser.reg

* Use this only if IE is installed in its default location [C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer] *

If you have SP1 installed then there is a new button added to the left side of the add\remove programs GUI in the control panel. This button is the "Set program access and defaults". Try changing your default browser in there. Welcome to the eXPeriance. {:~)
