Default browser problem

B

Brian Clarke

I had XP SP2 with all updates automatically installed by Windows Update.
My default browser is Firefox.

Now SP3 has been installed, and something keeps changing the defauklt
back to IE. This is really annoying.

How can I stamp on that?

So you need to set the Fox as your Default browser?
1... Click start >> Control Panel >> Double Click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options, on the IE Properties window
you will see these Options:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs
| Advanced .

Click on Progrmas Tan and make sure this check box is UNCHECKED:
[ ] Tell me if Internet Explorer is not the default web browser.
click [Apply] then [OK]

Also make sure this also set correct:
1... Click start >> Control Panel >> Add/Remove programs >> Set Program
access and default:
WExpand >>(*) Custom:
Choose a default web browser:
( ) Use my current web browser
( ) Internet Explorer
(*) Mozilla FireFox

Then on the Fox browser:
Tools >> Options >> Click pn Advanced tab and make sure this checked:
Systemm Defaults:
[ ] Always check to see if Fox is the default browser on Startup!

Click [OK] and you are done.
If you want the opposite then reverse back gear <G>

Many thanks for both answers. I have also been told about:

Start | Set Program Access and Defaults | Expand Custom and choose Firefox.

Then expand "Non-Microsoft", and you can see that FF is the default.
