Unable to release or renew IP address

Laptop was recently connected to a shipboard wireless
lan. Now back home I cannot get back on my home network
either with cable or Wi-Fi. The IP address remains that
of the ship. I've tried lots of things, including using
the ipconfig/release and ipconfig/renew and ipconfig/
release *Con* but nothing seems to work.
I can't find a knowledge base letter either. Any help
would be most appreciated.

Sounds like you have a static address? Are you configured to obtain an
address automatically?

Well u might find that ur lan is proberbly fix to an IP
address or in other words ur ip for the lan has been
manualy set, if so then change to it automatically assign
an ip and that should solve ur problem. If not u can
