IP Release and Renew

Switching from dialup to dsl. Computer does not renew IP
address. Run...command...do not get an open field to
enter ipconfig/release. Cannot connect. Any suggestions?

You have to create a new connection for DSL. It can be either "always
on" which is just a simple Ethernet connection or "broadband with
username and password" (aka "PPPoE").

Perhaps you need a PPPoE connection? If they gave you a username and
password to connect to the Internet, then you do. (Don't confuse email
username and password with PPPoE username and password, but they are
often the same.)
