Unable to register Windows XP

After months of flawlessly operating near-daily, my
computer would not boot. I would get to the
blue "windows" loading screen, but the computer would hang
there and hard drive activity would stop. Was not able to
start up in Safe Mode, either. Tried all the other
troubleshooting tips recommended in the newsgroup, but
finally had to use Windows XP's Repair feature off the XP
CD. It seems to have worked, but in order to log on for
the first time I need to register my version of XP. XP
was originally loaded on the laptop when I purchased it,
and I do not have the registration code that Microsoft is
supposed to provide when you register for the first time.
I am in the Navy on a ship at sea, where I have access to
the internet from my ship's computers, but cannot connect
my laptop to the internet to register. Also, I cannot
call Microsoft to register... my only access is via
email. After countless fruitless attempts to find a way
to contact MS via email (since the OS was not purchased
separately), does anyone know how I can contact them to
register via email?

Look on the bottom of your laptop for a 25 character product
key on a sticker. Call the mfg'r help, they sold it, its
their job to fix it.
