Unable to recall message

One of my user is unable to recall the message he had sent
and did not receive any notification of the
success/failure of the recall. Both he and the recipient
are on MS Exchange 2000, using outlook as their email
client. Both Outlook are open, and mails are not being
read/moved to other folders.

Any idea why this is happening? Any quick solution is
grateful.

Message recall rarely works....I have seen it fail FAR more often than I've
seen it work. However, that said, did the recipient even receive a message
that the sender wished to recall the message?

Hi! Thks for the reply. Yes the recipient received both
the original message and the recall message. But that's
it. Kind of frustrating especially when the user demands
the explanation from you!

Tell them to be more careful before hitting send, because message recall is
simply not reliable. :)

I think it looks worse to send out the recall notice and have it show up in
the recipient's inbox next to the offending message.

The recipient may have had the preview pane open, which marked the message
as "read".

The sender also has the read receipt notification turned
on too, but did not receive any notification. Sigh..
