Unable to open Powerpoint presentations in browser

Hi,

While trying to open powerpoint presentations in IE6 (Build 6.0.3790.1830)
SP1, a popup message which says to save the file instead of opening it. The
error message is "The file you are downloading cannot be opened by the
default program. It is either corrupted or it has an incorrect file type. As
a security precaution, it is recommended that you cancel the download.".

How ever if I save the file and ope it, no issues in opening. I tried saving
the file and opening with IE without any issues.

This is not happening with other MS office applications like word, excel etc.

I tried opening the website in other machines with IE (same version) and it
works fine without any issues.

Appreciate any pointers.

Regards
Ramana

Please state the full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Win2K SP4; WinME) of
the machine in question when posting to this newsgroup.

What version of MS PowerPoint or MS PowerPoint Viewer is installed?

Thanks Robear for th update.

Please find the details below.

OS : Windows 2003 R2 Standard Edition SP1 -- Terminal
services
Powerpoint : 2002 Sp-2 (10.4205.4219)

If I disable MIME_HANDLING feature in registry, ppt files open with
Powerpoint application in a new window (not in the browser window).

Tried disabling MIME_Sniffing feature with no luck.

Software restriction policies are in place and executables for IE and
Powerpoint are allowed for execution. I suspect the issue is something to do
with MIME handling.

Regards
Ramana
