Unable to connect to VPN

Hi
I am using Cisco VPN Client 4.0.4 (D) on windows xp sp2.
I am able to log in , as in the client asks my username/password, the
security policies are negotiated properly and i am successfully
authenticated. i get a disclaimer screen of my company vpn...and i am
required to press continue on that screen.
In windows xp home, after pressing continue the system just goes
blank...dead, it doesnt restart, or shuts down, just the screen goes
blank and the system stops responding.
while in windows xp proffesional i get a blue screen...saying
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL...and that it has an exception in
dne2000.sys at some memory address.

I tried doing the following :
1) Authenticate with my vpn
2) Uncheck Diterministic Network Enhancer service from my vpn network
connection properties dialogue
3) Press continue in the disclaimer screen
This way my system did not shutdown, and the vpn status shown was
connected, bt then no data was sent/recieved on the connection => it
was a dummy connection.

I am using an AMD Sempron 2400+ with 1 gb ram.

I have already tried doing the following :
Installing/Uninstalling VPN client again
Installing/Uninstalling Windows again
Formatting hard disk and installing windows again
Check/Uncheck Stateful Firewall option in the cpn client.

Please help me out.

Thanks

This Stop error is typically caused by faulty or incompatible hardware or
software.

Believe latest version of the client is 4.6 - could try that?

When you uninstalled Cisco VPN client, have remove dne200.sys? You may need to upgrade it to v4.6. These links may help,

Cisco 4.0.4 VPN cause the following Blue screen
Symptom: I have a strange problem and would appreciate any information I could get in this regard - My system crashes when connecting to the VPN with Cisco 4.0.4.....

How to uninstall Cisco VPN client
As Cisco recommends, you should uninstall the Cisco VPN Client by using the InstallShield uninstall utility packaged with the client. To do that, go to Start > Programs > Cisco Systems VPN Client > Uninstall VPN Client). You can also use the Windows add/remove utility to uninstall Cisco VPN Client.....

HI Anoop,

I had the same problem and solved it two weeks before. It was related
to a software provided by my broadband service provider.

In my opinion, it would help to review what software you installed
recently. In my case my service provider provided an update for their
broadband login software. It could also be due to updates in the
antivirus software - I remember reading from some post that F-Secure
latest update had a problem.

I hope this helps.

cheers,
Nelson

Hi Nelson,

Thanks for the response, you nailed the problem man !!

It was indeed the broadband software that was causing the problem. I
was using a software called the Cyberroam client for using my
broadband, i called my service provider and asked him to grant me
access without the software and viola ..after uninstalling the software
and restarting the system i was able to use my VPN..ah FINALLY!!

Thanks a ton once again !

Cheers
Anoop
