Unable to complete the download of Windows Defender

I was in the middle of downloading defender beta 2 but when it reaches the
last few seconds, it stalls and the window keeps showing it is downloading,
but could never complete.

I tried to install Ccleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/downloadbuilds.asp
as well as doing the clean up and tune up from
http://safety.live.com/site/en-US/default.htm , but the download still can't
be completed.

Is there anything else that I could do?

NOTE: I have Windows XP and I just reformatted / Reinstalled my whole
window xp due to the slowness from having so much spyware and craps. Anyone
can help me with this?

Hello Allan,

I've seen a handful of users that need to disable real-time protection by
their antivirus application in order to get the program installed. (Stop all
programs that are open in the bottom taskbar) etc. etc.. This may be worth
trying in your cªse.

I'd recommend re-downloading, and saving to a known location--like the
desktop.
After the download is complete, disable real-time protection by your
antivirus for long enough to do the installation. please disable or turn off
as much other software that always runs as you can--real time antivirus
scanning, any other antispyware software, (Stop all programs that are open in
the bottom taskbar) etc.

To clean your PC, follow this links provide by DAve M a regular in this
forums.
