Unable to acess some websites

Some websites do not download on my Xp Home machine.

All I get is a blue circle with a question mark in the centre.

I think this is something to do with Flashplayer and have tried several
downloads of Flashplayer from the web. Still no joy.

Sometimes a website will show the Flashplayer placeholder and the
graphic will download OK.

Should I be uninstalling the current Flashplayer before re-installing
or what is my problem?

I have found out that I can run these sites in IE but not in Firefox(
which I want to use) is it something to do with a pop-up blocker in
Firefox?
