unable to access certain web sites

I have found certain web sites I cant access unless I
leave off the www. and now I cant even access them that
way, I have laptop and desk, both with XP and laptop has
no problem, I have cross checked all settings I can think
of btw 2 computers. Any suggestions to this access
problem??
