Hay all, I have on my system two o/s windows xp home & Vista home premium.
each on it's on hardrive. xp on the master & vista on the slave. upon
booting I get the option of which o/s I'd like to use. I'd like to remove
xp from the system, If by removing the hardrive I get the massage "
bootmanager not found" could anyone please tell how to change the
bootmanager from xp to vista so's I can have vista as the only o/s. I know I
need to change the vista slave to master, I'd like to format the drive with
xp on. Thanks for any help.

Does Vista "see" itself as installed in drive "C:"?
If it doesn't, you will not be able to remove your XP drive because Vista
would be in "D:" and there would be no "C:" for booting.
If it is "C:" this is what you should do:
1.- Remove your XP drive
2.- Boot off the Vista DVD and do a boot repair after the language selection
screen.
I am not an expert on item 2, so maybe some googling around might help you
with a detailed procedure.

Repair install Vista.

Are you sure you want to get rid of XP so soon?

Here are some notes I found from the developers of VistaBootPro.

From VistaBootPro:
Hi and welcome to PROnetworks! If your XP drive that you want to format is
the "SYSTEM" drive, then you need to do a few things before you format the
drive; namely copy the Vista boot files/folders from the root of the drive
and copy them to the root of your Vista drive. The files/folders are:

bootmgr (File)
bootsect.bak (File)
\boot (Folder)

Once you have these copied to the root of your Vista partition, then you can
run VBPro 3.1 and run diagnostics to see if it picked up the changes. Worst
case scenario is that once you format the System drive (Probably your XP
partition) you initially won't be able to boot into Vista, but that can be
remedied by booting the Vista DVD to "repair my computer" option

Good luck!

Hello , I have exactly the same setup you have but , I have Vista set as
the master and XP as the slave or I may have removed the jumper completely
from the XP , I will have to double check that , anyway , I never get any
messages just goes right into Vista which is how I want it . If I want to use
XP I simply go into the bios setup page by pressing F2 then scrolling down to
Primary Hard Drive 0 , hitting enter and then turn it off , hit enter , then
escape , works like a charm every time . Make sure your boot sequence is the
way you want it also .
