uninstall boot XP/Vista

I have Windows XP on my C: drive and Vista on another dish, drive is called
V:

The Vista bootmanager works perfect.

Now i would like to delete the XP on my C: drive and only use the Vista. How
can I do that without damage Vista and the startup??

Hi, Knud.

Don't focus too hard on drive letters, because WinXP and Vista might not
agree on them. Use Disk Management in Vista to be sure you know which
partition on which HD is the System Partition. This partition holds the
startup files for BOTH WinXP and Vista. My guess is that, in your computer,
it also is the "boot volume" for WinXP, holding WinXP's \Windows folder with
all the GB or so of operating system files. And that your V:\Windows folder
holds all of Vista's operating system files (several GBs).

If that is correct. then you should be able to boot into Vista and simply
delete the entire C:\Windows folder. Then you can also delete WinXP's
startup files (NTLDR, NTDETECT.COM and Boot.ini), plus Bootsect.bak (only
512 bytes), all in C:\, to reclaim the disk space.

Vista will still start the boot process in the System Partition (C:?), which
will point to Vista's boot volume (V:?). To change either the System
Partition or the Boot Volume, you would need to reinstall Vista.
