Turn On/Turn Off

I'm not getting the "normal" screens I usually see when I
start my computer and shut it off.

First, turning it on...
My computer used to bypass the welcome screen, not as for a
login, and go directly to the desktop. That's what I want.
Now, it shows an old style login prompt, similar to NT.

Second, turning it off...
Upon going to Start->Shut Down, my computer used to give me
three options (large icons in the middle of the screen).
That's what I want.
Now, it brings up a shutdown dialog with a pull-down menu of
different options.

All this probably has to do with the HP software I installed
(and the .NET account), I imagine.

Hi ... Try going back to Microsoft update site and do another scan , I will
bet there another update for NET framework , Download it and see if that
helps , Just make sure at Microsoft update site there no more updates for
NET framework after each restart , Do a scan for every time you restart
just to be sure you have all the updates for NET framework ...

First question:

Go to Start -> Run.
Copy and paste the following into the Open box:

control userpasswords2

Click OK.
In the "Users of this computer" box, click on the User you want
to have logged on automatically.
Uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this
computer".
Click OK.
In the box that pops up, make sure the account you clicked on
earlier is entered next to User Name.
Enter your password twice.
Note: You can leave the password box blank if the account does
not have a password.
Click OK.
Reboot to see if you get the desired results.

Second question:

Go to Control Panel and double click on User Accounts.
Click on "Change the way users log on or off".
In the next page, put a check mark in the box next to "Use the
Welcome Screen".
Note: You can also enable "Fast User Switching" if you want.
Hit the "Apply Options" button.
This should restore the "Turn off computer" box with the 3
buttons as opposed to the "Shut down Windows" dialog box.
