Trouble sending email

I have been getting the following
server says it's not on there end

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject

Looks like doityourselfradonradon.com either has not been registered with a
DNS
server, or has been registered so recently that it's not reachable from all
parts of
the internet yet. That makes the address unreachable.

Well darn, nice catch. unfortunantly that didn't fix it.

Do you get a different error message?

According to this
http://www.charter.com/Visitors/Support.aspx?SupportArticleID=1241
you can use mail.charter.net for both POP & SMTP server names

I am getting the same security error - I can go to my old PC with XP on it
and send all day long no problem but not with Vista on my new PC. How do you
turn off the authentication setting ? This is insane, email is very basic and
works every where except with Vista.

Suggestions?
Thanks

You need to contact Readyalert for the proper email server settings, if they
are providing your email account.

You didn't tell us who your ISP is. I don't think Readyalert.com is an ISP.
It looks like the mail.readyalert.com server is rejecting your attempt to
send because you are not directly connected to their network.
The workaround for this problem is for you to use your ISP's SMTP server.

By 'alternative' I presume you mean a Hotmail account.
Folks with a business, such as the OP, would rather not send
from a Hotmail account for prestige reasons.

SSL and port 25 are seldom used together. Try turning off SSL.

Does your path to mail.readyalert.com go through any other internet
provider's
equipment, such as the tampabay.rr.com equipment, before it gets there? If
so, connections to port 25 are often blocked to cause trouble for spammers.
You may need to ask readyalert.com if their outgoing email server listens to
any port other than port 25 for the outgoing mail.

I am sure if I send to others the same error will occur. I have read the
replies from the posts and tried all that was suggested, check the box,
not
check the box and on and on.

I would as that Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM please respond. He seems to
know what he is talking about.

Does MS realize they have a problem here?
Thanks

I am getting the same security error - I can go to my old PC with XP on
it
and send all day long no problem but not with Vista on my new PC. How do
you
turn off the authentication setting ? This is insane, email is very basic
and
works every where except with Vista.

Suggestions?
Thanks

It appears that you are still trying to send to an incorrect email address.
I thought the double "radon" was the problem, so why is it still there?

Do you get a different error message?

According to this

you can use mail.charter.net for both POP & SMTP server names

Well darn, nice catch. unfortunantly that didn't fix it.

Looks like you have an extra "radon" in there....

I got it working. I want to thank each and every one for their input and
help. I now know what the puzzle looks like and found all the pieces. The
correct fix for my situation was what Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM had
suggested in another similar problem and what most of you were saying for me
to do. Here it is in layman's terms. (I got the final fix from my technician
this am, I did not want to wake him up last night)
I have two email ISPs, one from ReadyAlert and the other from
Tampabay.rr.com (RoadRunner) I get emails from both and send from both as
needed. The ReadyAlert ISP was the problem (not their problem, my problem
because I was not enabling authentication). This was not needed with XP and
worked fine with XP. Therefore I blamed Vista for the THEIR problem. My
situation was compounded and hidden more by having two ISPs. I was
"correcting" the RR ISP not the ReadyAlert one because ReadyAlert email went
fine but not the RR or other ones like edu.com. So I thought the "correction"
of enabling authentication to the RR ISP was not working. When I finally
"Got it" while talking with the technician this morning, I knew I had to
enable authentication on the ReadyAlert ISP to fix the problem. I did and all
is good in the email world as I know it. I do not want to know more!
This is what I did:
Select Tools at the top of Windows mail, select Accounts, then your mail ISP
(I had two, select the one that gave you the error, check your error
message), then select Properties, Servers tab at the top, Check the box at
the bottom at the "My server requires authentication ", The Setting button
will light up, select it and select the button " Use same settings as my
incoming mail server", Then ok, ok, close out of it. This did the trick for
me.
Good luck for you. I wish MS would give us a heads up on differences like
this so we can find the solutions faster than reading the many, many blogs
for it. Maybe I am asking too much, but MS is making billions (not millions)
from us, it would seem fair that they (MS) would provide better customer
service. This is why Vista and MS are hated so much in the PC world. I cannot
tell you the number of folks that went to MACs just because of the fear they
HEARD how bad Vista is, (I was almost one)
All in all my experience with Vista has been good. But it could have been
excellent with a little more information that would have not taken much
effort on MS part.
Thank you all for your feedback and help. Good day
Happy, CEO, ReadyAlert Services.

You are still using an incorrect email address for the recipient.
Take the second 'radon' out.

Thanks for your explanation.
However, whether a server requires authentication has nothing to do
with the OS (XP vs Visa) of the sending computer. The fact that there
was no problem on your XP computer means that there was some other
difference between the two.

Macs are fine computers, but the fact remains that their share of the
desktop market has remained quite steady at a mere 5%.
