Trouble installing games?

Just tried to install some of my older games - Sims on to this PC. Now they
installed fine on Windows XP on my old PC, but now I get a message that
says:

"C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT The System file is not suitable for running
MS DOS and Microsoft Windows applications."

Does this mean my old games are fragged or is there something I can do?

Run them in compatibility Mode > Right click the executable for the game >
go to "Properties" > Compatibility and choose the operating system mode most
suitable for the game.
