trouble connecting with IE + unable to install network components

I may be partly responsible for the problem - I may have accidentally deleted
the sp3 folder in my root c drive thinking it was not needed. I have been
having trouble connecting to the network as well as getting on the internet
with IE even though I have no problem with firefox. This troubles me
especially since I can't get windows updates now...

I noticed ther were some extra components that were unchecked in the network
advanced window menu and I thought they might be relevant. When I try to
install them windows looks for dll files -and the strange part is that they
are there - but for some reason it will not accept them. I have tried
reinstalling sp3 and doing virus checks but nothing weird is coming up....any
ideas?

If that a recent change, then try System Restore and see if that will help
solve the issue.
What Version of IE you are using?

Firefox works fine?

You only have trouble with IE? Has IE ever worked before? What
happened right before IE quit working?

What version of IE? What is the nature of the trouble with IE? There
isn't a single error message anywhere to help figure this out? Does
it launch, connect, not open your home page, etc.

Where did you see these extra unchecked components and what/why did
you check/try to install?

Is the message you see when you try to install them "I will not accept
these updates" or is it something else?

There are other ways to get Microsoft Updates, but it would be nice to
have IE working.
