Trouble Accessing a Network Share

I have a series of computers in which I am trying to access a network share
by typing "\\XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX\" in RUN, where XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX represents the
IP of each corresponding network system. For the majority of the computers,
I am able to access the desired folder, and this works fine. There are a few
computers however, that give me the following error message:

------------------------------------------------------------------
\\XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX is not accessible. YOu might not have permission to use
this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out
if you have access permissions.

The account is not authorized to log in from this station.
------------------------------------------------------------------

All of the computers should be set up the same way, and all firewalls are
off, so I do not know what can be causing this issue. Please note the error
does not actually seem to be with account privileges, because the error
message you get from using an under privileged account is different.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Are all of the computers XP? I think 2000 has a security setting.

Try to add the password - user accounts > click on your account > manage my
network passwords > click add.

Under server, type the computer name. Then under user name, type
*COMPUTERNAME*\*USER* Where computername you type what you typed under
server, and user is the main user you log on to the other computers (Try one
first, not all of them!). If you used a password, type it in the password
box.

Harry,

Thanks for the reply, but your suggestion did not work. Even when I
pre-store the credentials, I still get the "The account is not authorized to
log in from this station" message.

It seems to me like there's some sort of security policy setting affecting
this, but I can't seem to find it.

Calvin,

Please tell us about your "series of computers". Is this a domain or workgroup
setup? Are these all Windows computers, and if so which versions of Windows?
If XP, identify XP Home or XP Pro.

Your problem is most likely with SMB Signing.

If your servers are setup to require SMB Signing, and all clients aren't setup
to provide it, when connecting to a server, you will have a problem. Your error
message is typical of this problem.
