Can't Map to a Server and Share

I have tried several times to map to a network and a
share through windows explorer and my network
neighborhood, but I keep getting the following error:

The network path \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\ddd-dddddd could not
be found.

(I used 'xxx' to represent the IP address number
and 'ddd' to represent the share name, for privacy
reasons).

Do you know what causes this error.

Thanks for any help that can be shed on this subject.

If you go to the network neighborhood can you find the
computer you wish to connect to? Yes. Open the computer
icon and try to manually connect. No. Try going to
ENTIRE NETWORK and see if you can find it. YES. Same as
yes above. NO. Check alternet domains.
