I am trying to transfer files across from desktop to CD.

However, when i go into CD drive, the cd is blank.

Do you need a particular type of CD for this?

How are you burning the files exactly (i.e. Software and OS)?

When you first insert a blank CD-R, it should be blank until you copy files to it... or do you mean it is still blank once the files are copied?

When you click on the CD drive and it opends an empty window is there some writing in the top left hand corner saying files waiting to be written.

If i remember correctly XP doesn't write files to Cd immediately, you have to click here to confirm when you want to write

The copying process is called "burning" Are you just copy and paste into the CD drive or are you using send to method..? Either way you should have a small balloon open to the bottom right of your screen as in the attatchment below, click on the ballon andconfirm you want to write these files to CD

Edit: Take a read of THIS
