Track Changes Balloons

HELP!!! Please could anyone tell me if there is a way to STOP word from
automatically renumbering the comments/balloons when one is deleted or added
AFTER the initial review. I work with track changes using the comment
bubbles...the same documents are worked on by other people as well. I am
responsible for filling out a checklist that corresponds with the comment
bubbles and therefore the numbering of these is critical. Each time someone
else either adds one or deletes one somewhere in the document word
automatically renumbers ALL of the ones following that position and therefore
makes my checklist obsolete since it was done with previous numbering. I
NEED to know if there is a way to STOP the automatic renumbering of the
comment boxes....to FREEZE them if you will so that any new comment boxes are
assigned a number FOLLOWING the last one previously used at the end of the
document REGARDLESS of where it is placed in the document AND if one is
deleted somewhere in the document it will NOT affect the numbering of the
rest of the comment boxes.
I hope I explained that in a way that someone might understand my dilemma
and GOD willing there is a way to achieve what I need.

I am not sure whether I can help you. AFAIK, there is no way to stop
it. However, a few workarounds/tricks that might make yr life easier
jump to my mind:
1. You can ask all reviewers to fill in their initials in
Tools/Options/User Information - this effectively labels the comments
to the person who made the comment [HvE1], [HvE2]. I haven't tested it
for multiple users so I dont know if the numbering is unique to each
user (i.e., I dont know whether the next comment by ABC is labeled as
[ABC1] or [ABC3], but at least they are easier to track.
2. You could ask the reviewers to start with an ID number manually
which you can use, while ignoring the inserted number.
3. You can show all the comments at the bottom of your screen - I
personally find this easier to keep overview. Click the Reviewing pane
button. You also notice the name of the reviewer in the middle of the
comment heading, assuming this is entered by the commenter in
Tools/Options/User information.
4. You can print all the comments (without the text) - File/Print/
Select in Print what: List of markup. You can print to pdf if you have
a pdf printer installed (there are free downloads available).

First and foremost, THANK YOU for taking the time to respond.
As to your first point, I can tell you that the numbers are reset for all
reviewers...otherwise it might be a bit easier. If for example one
reviewer...say [XX12] had just a few comments and then reviewer two...[XX13]
had the majority and then deleted a few in between...it would be great if the
only numbers reset were the ones for that particular reviewer since that
would make it easier to track but no...unfortunately the program labels ALL
the comments consecutively and therefore when it resets the numbering it does
so for all comments making it harder to sort out.
As to your other points, I will take them into consideration and see if I
can make things easier applying them to our work. Again, thank you for your
time and efforts to help; it is much appreciated.
