Timing for slides is varying

I have a PP2002 slide presentation of 75 slides which runs with a single WAV
file narration starting at slide 1. Although I have manually adjusted the
timing for each slide, upon playback the slide timing isn't staying the same
each time. It gets out of synch part way through at a different place each
time. This is being run on the same PC each time. Why is this happening and
what can be done about it?

This is a public presentation and the synching must be consistent and
accurate.

That's the nature of the beast. All you can do now is to minimize the
variations.

Adjust the timing of the PPT using the computer on which it will ultimately
be played. Then, run the presentation completely through at least one time
before the official presentation to "synchronize." Don't close out of
PowerPoint after you've synchronized. Again, this isn't going to be perfect
but it will help a lot.

In addition...shut down any applications that could be running in the
background such as Anti virus scanners. Shut off ALL power saving settings
as well. Anything you don't need running.
