"The Server is Not Configured for Transactions" IPC$ and Error 2141

Phil

Okay, you guys are my last hope. I have been all across
the net and back on this problem but to no avail. I'm a
new technical services guy at my university, and I've
inherited a number of problems. The most vexing is that I
have been unable to get a printer system set up in my work
area. The ideal machine to put the printer on is mine, so
that's what I did. Now, I can print to it fine, but I
can't even add the printer to the other four computers in
my area. I keep getting the message "The server is not
configured for transactions." Upon searching Microsoft, I
found that we needed to share our IPC$. I did that, but
it is unshared after every reboot. Does anyone have a
suggestion? I'm running out of options and patience. I'd
appreciate any advice that you can give. Thanks.

Phil

Hey Phil,

I just ran into that problem a couple of days ago.
I think you should run ur anti-virus on your machine, you should have been
hit by a virus or trojan something....mumu.A
After u delete it away, your netshare should be fine IPC$, ADMIN$, etc
should be back to the original state.

Hope this helps

Hi,

You should make sure you anti virus software is up to date and download the
latest definitions. The symptoms you are seeing are often caused by a type
of mIRC virus.

Thanks,
